Design a Phone Accessory

Image
When designing my phone holder, I had to make trade-offs due to the 100mm x 100mm x 20mm bounding box constraint, which required me to reduce the overall length of the stand. In addition, based on my current capabilities, I was unable to implement the full range of rotational adjustments I originally planned for. Despite these compromises, I kept the design focused on user needs, such as ensuring the phone can rest securely, allowing for hands-free use in cooking, studying, or content creation. I prioritized a sturdy angled support with openings for both flashlight projection and camera recording, aligning with real-life tasks like following recipes or filming tutorials. If I had more time and tools, I would improve the base stability and add detachable rotation joints. Overall, the design reflects a balance between feasibility under the given constraints and the design's goal of enhancing everyday convenience for multitasking users.

This soap holder is designed specifically for bars of soap used near sinks. Traditional soap holders often fail to drain water effectively, leaving soap to sit in pooled moisture. As a result, the soap softens, sticks to the holder, and can even promote mold growth if there are no drainage holes. This design addresses those issues by angling the soap slightly toward a front drainage hole, allowing excess water to flow directly into the sink for faster drying and improved hygiene.

Sketching A Phone Accessory

As a student who enjoys cooking and baking with recipes, I often struggle with having to pick up my phone when my hands are messy or full. That’s why I sketched a phone holder. The product is height-adjustable and includes a rotating head and detachable pieces, which allow for multiple viewing angles and easy disassembly for storage. These features make it versatile, and additional improvements like a sturdier base and arms or a washable surface could further enhance its functionality in home environments. From following recipes without smudging your phone, watching videos comfortably, recording hands-free content, or even using the phone flashlight for repairs without needing (to make your sister hold it) a second person to help, the product aims to solve some of the everyday frustrations that normal people have. A phone holder is marketable because it appeals to a broad audience—students, content creators, home cooks, and anyone who just needs a convenient way to view their ph...
